How long will my order take to arrive?

In-stock items ship within 2–3 business days. Custom or made-to-order pieces, including house numbers not held in stock, take 4–6 weeks: this covers design approval where relevant, laser-cutting, and powder-coating in batches. Delivery after dispatch is R140 within Gauteng and R160 for the rest of South Africa, with free shipping on orders over R2,000.

Why does a custom order take 4–6 weeks?

Art on Steel is a small South African business, and pieces are cut in batches rather than one at a time. Once cutting is complete, steel goes to a specialist powder coater, which typically takes 5–7 working days. After collection, every piece is quality-checked, packed, and shipped. Any piece that fails quality check is re-made, which can add roughly a week.

How do I know if an item is in stock?

Product pages show the number of units currently in stock. If no number is shown, the item is out of stock and will be made to order. For urgent orders, contact info@artonsteel.co.za or call 082 442 4284 to confirm stock before ordering.

Do you keep every product in stock?

Black finishes are the most likely to be held in stock. Other colours are usually made to order, following the 4–6 week production timeline above.

How does the custom design process work?

After an order is placed, Art on Steel designs the piece and emails a proof for approval. Once approved, the piece joins the next production batch: laser-cut, then powder-coated (5–7 working days), then quality-checked, packed, and shipped.

How will I know my order was placed successfully?

A confirmation email is sent to the address used at checkout. If it doesn't arrive, check spam first, then contact info@artonsteel.co.za.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?

Yes, as long as it hasn't been dispatched yet. Contact info@artonsteel.co.za, Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm.

I entered the wrong delivery address. Can it be corrected?

Yes, if the order hasn't shipped yet. Contact info@artonsteel.co.za immediately. Once an order has dispatched, the address can no longer be changed, so it's worth double-checking your address at checkout.

Will I receive an invoice?

Your order confirmation email serves as your invoice.

Is it safe to shop on the Art on Steel website?

Yes. Checkout is encrypted with industry-standard SSL, and payments are processed through a South African payment provider. Customer information is never sold or shared with third parties.

Can my house number or wall art be displayed outdoors?

Yes. Every piece is powder-coated, a finish designed specifically to withstand outdoor conditions. Occasional cleaning keeps it looking its best for years.

I live near the coast. Will my steel art rust?

Powder-coated steel resists rust far better than raw or painted steel, but coastal salt air is harsher on any metal over time. For extra protection near the coast, ask about the optional zinc primer undercoat applied before powder-coating — it adds a real barrier against salt-air corrosion.
