Raise a Glass to "Liquid Art"
Art on Steel's Wine Bottle Steel Décor pays tribute to one of humanity's oldest, most celebrated creations — wine — with a sleek steel silhouette that merges a wine bottle into the flowing script of the word "Wine."
A brief history of wine
The story begins in the Caucasus region — modern-day Georgia and Armenia — roughly 8,000 years ago, when early humans discovered that crushed grapes fermented naturally. From there, wine became integral to Ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman life, featuring in religious ceremonies and daily rituals. The Romans, in particular, spread winemaking techniques across Europe, laying the foundation for today's great wine regions.
Why does wine deserve a place on the wall?
Wine represents celebration, camaraderie, culture, and refinement — the shared bottle among friends, the toast at a milestone, the quiet ritual of a well-paired meal. This design captures that spirit: the graceful curve of a bottle flowing directly into the word itself, as if the wine had poured out onto the wall.
A few interesting wine facts
The "legs" that run down your glass after swirling indicate alcohol content and viscosity — more legs generally means higher alcohol. A "corked" wine isn't about cork particles; it's a fault caused by a compound that makes wine smell like damp cardboard. And the oldest winery ever found, in an Armenian cave, dates back roughly 6,100 years, complete with a press, fermentation vats, and a drinking cup.
Where does it work best?
Above a wine rack in the kitchen, in a dining room to set the tone for a meal, in a home bar as the natural centrepiece, above a mantelpiece in the living room, or on a covered patio for outdoor entertaining. It's also a considered gift for housewarmings, weddings, anniversaries, or birthdays for a wine enthusiast.
